Safety is the most important factor to consider when choosing a dock leveler. You can't go wrong with a Serco Dock Leveler, and with a Serco Hydraulic Dock Leveler, you will have the safest one around.

Typical problem with mechanical levelers is the constant upward stress on the spring mechanism counteracting gravity. This causes many of the problems as shown above. A hydraulic leveler, on the other hand is not under constant "wear" stress, and uses gravity to its advantage. It is designed to precisely position the leveler making movement over it quick and efficient.
Hydraulics are also safer than mechanical systems. The Serco Hydraulic system include a velocity fuse that arrests the downward acceleration of the leveler should a truck prematurely leave. Serco mechanical Dock Levelers do include safety stops to minimize the fall, in an abrupt manner. The Hydraulic system will deccelerate the fall of the leveler quicker and more gently.
